Being closer to the community allows entrepreneurs to gain a comparative advantage to the monster corporations that loose the people touch while trying to perfect their systems. LUCID explanations of "what" and "why." And I'm looking forward to your "how" post. I work with refugees in Atlanta with myriad needs, employment among the top on the list of essentials. I find that assembly line, custodial work is what affords wages to the 40- and 50-something non-English-speaking adults w near-zero transferability of skills honed in the refugee camps where they lived about 18 years. It is the younger set, still in school where attention must be paid to education and training for the long haul. (The 20-somethings' education is on hold while pulling in the low-wages w burger-flipping jobs...) Anyone reading this post and comments, PLEASE adopt now a family or a young person (or more) to shed light along the tunnel toward opportunity out of the mind- and soul-numbing slots life has dealt the community. Monitor what's said and not said in the schools, encourage study and planning, tutor to advance basic skills and to widen horizons... and while the list is endless, it is all so simple: just do it.

Now if we could just get medical practitioners to ...

Now if we could just get medical practitioners to replicate your mechanic's collaborative approach to car problems, health care outcomes would be vastly improved and cost less at the same time.
